Vang Vieng–Laos

We spent our last night in Vientiane (which is the capital of Laos) sitting up on the roof, and sitting by the Mekong river

Then we were up early the next morning to get the bus to Vang Vieng, about 4 hours north.  Halfway through the bus ride we had to stop as there was a snake who had boarded the bus and was slithering next to the bus driver!  Arrived in VV mid afternoon and it was hosing it down, luckily a minivan had picked up bus passengers and delivered us to a hostel, very handy!  Rain stopped late afternoon so we went for a wander, these photos are the main street, can you see the cows?

We saw the funniest ATM message and had a late lunch, all the restaurants have these funny tables and chairs, poor Andre’s legs are finding it a little harder to cope.

After something to eat, we took 20 steps down a mud path and saw the river.  This really is the most charming town.  In the guide book it says when you get to Laos, be prepared to slow down, and its so true.  Everything just goes at a slow easy pace that you don’t notice you have slipped into.  Unlike Indonesia where its slow, but frustrating.
