Koh Samui

The big draw card on Koh Samui was lovely beaches, shopping, eating, drinking and the dreaded ‘Full Moon’ party  on the island next door, Koh Pha Ngan. The party does not stop there as they have full moon parties, half moon parties and no moon parties. if by chance you missed out on those parties then you are in luck as they have a party every other day. its a good place! Winking smile
We left Krabi and got in maxi-taxi/bus/school bus/taxi/ferry and finally arrived at Koh Samui.  After a bit of drama getting our pre-paid taxi, we got to our accommodation.  Straight away we dumped our packs, changed and dived into the pool, watching the almost full moon!  Dinner that evening was sitting overlooking the beach/sea with candle-light and very friendly staff.  So far Thailand deserves its reputation of being incredibly friendly to tourists!
We have proved that we are getting older and smarter by having two and a half days of relaxing in Sumai, eating well and over dosing on coconut milkshakes…….  and then hitting the party like we meant it (us and ten thousand others).  Dayglo clothing and body paint is alive and well amongst the party crowd here.
The drink of choice is called a bucket, this consists of a third of a litre of spirits topped up with a can of softdrink, in a bucket (like a kid’s sand castle bucket) of course. It bends the mind a little to be sure and you get a free hug with every drink.
So these are the ‘before’ shots on the boat going to the event.

We got back about nine  in the morning after a 15 hour effort and then I promptly went out to pick up rubbish on the local beach for a couple of hours.  Non prizes for guessing where my brain was at.
Happy days.
Now sitting on a train to Bangkok after four days on the island of Koh Samui, Nicki is having a great time watching the cockroaches walking around us in our second class coach. And as we all know if you can see one cockroach then there are a zillion of then lurking in the back ground. Anyway only twelve hours to go on this rail journey and I got 230 volt power point so I get to do something constructive during the trip…….. the simple things in life are a blessing. We have just finished a Thai Railways lunch and we are both not sure if we feel better or worse, god their food is hot, reaaally hot. But hey it got eaten.  We arrived in Bangkok at 7.50pm and Nicki decided to see if we could still catch the overnight train to Laos which leaves at 8pm.  Due to a bit of help by a lovely old man, who pushed in the line for tickets, we made the train!  Got served beer and food, and went to sleep in our little train beds.  Next stop Laos!
