Yes this place gets a big title, but it’s a place that should have a big title! The children around this town have too far to travel to school, so Neville, who runs NFO, decided on top of an orphanage, they were going to build free schools the kids had access to. NFO supports 52 orphans (27 boys 25 girls) and 1200 children in the 8 village schools!!
Honestly I could rave over this organisation for ages, all the info is at the bottom of this post, but send me a note if you want any more info as well!
My job, was to organise the orphanage library! Yay!

Andre got the hard task of making sure every child(52) at the Orphanage had a working bike! When he arrived there was a bit of a rush, and it didn’t let up. Just as we were finishing for the day, a young lady came up to Andre and said her bike still wasn’t quite right. Andre laughed and turned the bike over. He said to me, this lady has been my hardest customer all day! she likes her bike, ‘just right’ and she is the only kid I have to turn the bike over for! She announced the bike good, and with a beautiful smile said a sincere thank you, I think Andre’s smile may have been bigger than hers.
Here is some more shots around the orphanage, where Andre and I spent our couple of days. We went to see who was kicking the ball on the roof, the kids starting laughing saying it’s not a ball, it’s the goat!
Opposite the place the volunteers stay, are our neighbours….and next photo is just a few of the volunteers!
After a hard day sorting books and fixing bikes, we found a little place on our bike ride home, that sold a nice cold beer at a lovely round-a-bout, so lots to watch as traffic is so had to put those photos in, but if you look close at the third photo, you can see how heavy the load on the back is!!!!
The market at Takeo is amazing, you can buy absolutely anything…..except cheese and milk!
The market was also the bus station, where we had to sadly leave the orphanage for our next part of Cambodia, Battambang.
