We met a neat English girl, Jo, on our bus ride to Saigon, so we tagged along with her and found a place to stay right in the middle of Saigon. We went out the first night to have a look around. Ended up on this mega busy street with plastic tables and chairs drinking cheap beer. We met so many people of different nationalities, was so much fun! The next night Andre met a friend from Ukraine that he used to sail with, Jo and I went home early (midnight) but was lots of fun on our plastic chairs again. Then we had word from Paul (that we stayed with in Singapore) that he was in Vang Tau with another friend of Andre’s he hasn’t seen in 20 years. So we decided we better go visit. Before we left, Andre was still hunting for the (1963 monk who set himself alight, famous photo, we had seen the car in Ha Noi, but apparently after setting himself alight, he was then cremated, but both times his heart never burnt) monks heart which is meant to be in Saigon, but no-one seems to know about it. Eventually he met a local who took him to the new monument.
