Mersing and Tioman Island

We left Cherating by bus to Mersing, the stop off point to get the ferry to the famous Tioman Island.  Not much to say about Mersing, very small small fishing town.  We just stayed the night in Mersing to catch the ferry early the next day.

Very colourful boats!
The ferry was really late, and really slow, at times it looked like Andre was keen to go to the engine room and help out the engineer with a hammer!  Tioman island has a few 'towns', but our choice was limited to staying in Salang as we were arriving on a public holiday and Tioman Island was booked out by Singaporeans having a 4 day holiday for diving trips.  Once we got to Salang we dumped our packs in our room and went for a swim in the coral beach sea.  There were multi coloured fish flicking around everywhere in the incredibly clear sea!  That night we went to a local bar and met a cool dutch couple who love to dance.  Wonderful first day!
