We left the beautiful country of Laos and arrived in Hue, Vietnam (central, the border of North and South)
We decided we better go see the 'forbidden city'. The citadel is surrounded by a huge moat, with 4 entrances and 4 guard towers and a massive flag monument in front. It has huge cobbled squares in front of the moat, and another town around the ouside that is a lot quieter than 50m over the main car bridges. It was amazing, but so much of it was bombed you couldn't see the purple forbidden city inside the citadel as it was grass land. They are rebuilding, so one day you will be able to see the city within a city. However the first part of the citadel was beautiful, how much of it is original and how much is rebuilt i have no idea, but it is an impressive complex.

There are 9 cannons, 4 for each season, then 5 over the other side for wood, dirt, fire, water and gold. The cannons are copper with beautiful etchings, that stand on a metal-wood stands also intricately carved. For ceremonial purposes, but on each cannon is engraved the instructions for recipe for loading, loading and firing!
